Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Does PL50mC install differently than vinyl films like IJ180Cv3 or IJ180mC?
PL50mC is a different material, so it has a slightly different feel during installation as it may require a little less heat to conform. The adhesive has a similar tacky feel as our ultra-removable adhesive and releases smoothly. Overall, PL50mC is easy to install as it has both Comply™ and Controltac™ features and does not require installers to change how they install. The overlaminate chosen will also affect your overall installation performance.
What makes PL50mC a better option to use versus removable calendared films?
PL50mC offers several benefits that removable calendared films cannot. First, PL50mC can help customers meet some of their sustainability goals as it is made from 47% bio-based material. Second, PL50mC has Comply™ and Controltac™ making very easy to install. Third, PL50mC has an ultra-removable adhesive** that removes cleanly from most surfaces without heat at end of life. Lastly, PL50mC has great conformability and shows less lifting from contoured substrates than stiffer calendared products.
What applications do we recommend for PL50mC?
Key applications are short-term branding and promotional applications on vehicles, exterior or interior walls. We recommend applications less than 3 years. For exterior/interior wall applications, we recommend customers test to approve the film on the substrate first with our adhesion test kit.
Is PL50mC compatible with all printer ink types (UV, latex, solvent, etc.)?
PL50mC is compatible with UV and latex digital inks and UV screenprint. We do not recommend using PL50mC with solvent inks.
What is the recommended overlaminate pairing with PL50mC?
"PL50mC can be paired with the following overlaminates:
Non-PVC: 8548G, 8549L, 8550M
PVC: 8518, 8519, 8520
Non-PVC, interior only: 8048G, 8050M"
Is PL50mC compatible with liquid clear coats?
No, it is not.
