3M™ Double Coated Differential Tape 97042 features a 1 mil polyester (PET) film carrier coated on the tight side (exposed side) with an aggressive permanent acrylic adhesive for excellent shear performance on a range of substrates including metals, composites and HSE plastics. The easy (liner) side features a removable acrylic adhesive designed for clean removal with no residue.
Designed for specific applications on a wide range of substrates, our 3M™ Double Coated Differential Tape 97042 features two acrylic adhesives, one on each side of a 1.0 mil polyester (PET) film carrier. The 1.5 mil pressure sensitive adhesive on the face side of the tape delivers excellent adhesion to HSE plastics, metals and composites, and performs well in high and low temperatures. The liner side adhesive is 1.3 mils and provides reliable temporary adhesion for placement during processing and assembly. This adhesive removes cleanly without residue, saving time. The film carrier on 3M™ Double Coated Differential Tape 97042 adds strength to final part and dimensional stability for easier handling during slitting and die-cutting. The 55# densified kraft paper liner is compatible with rotary die-cutting and removes cleanly. Recommended Applications Core starting/end tabbing Graphics including backlit signs and POP displays Foam lamination Lamination for fabricated parts Splicing papers, films and foils Attachment labels What is Double Coated Tape? In general, double coated tape is composed of a paper, film, or tissue carrier that is coated on both sides with pressure sensitive adhesive. The adhesive is protected by a peel-away liner that is removed at the time of application. These tapes can be applied by hand or with a dispenser. Double coated tape dispensers are available in a variety of configurations ranging from manual to fully automatic. Applications for double coated tape are found in electronics, automotive, aerospace, general industrial, and fabrication markets.
