3M™ ThermaVolt Calendered Inorganic Insulating Paper is an inorganic-based calendered paper for high-temperature electrical insulation applications up to Class 220®.

3M™ ThermaVolt Calendered Inorganic Insulating Paper is an inorganic-based calendered paper for high-temperature electrical insulating applications. These are thicker constructions of ThermaVolt papers. Qualified for use in electrical insulation systems up to Class 220® per UL 1446 and IEC Std. 60085. Applications include ground and layer insulation in dry-type transformers, as well as interwinding insulation in strip-wound coils and electromagnet coils; and spiral-wound core tubes. The inorganic content in ThermaVolt papers offers excellent thermal and dielectric stability, as well as long-term voltage endurance and low moisture absorption. The calendering process yields a densified paper with high dielectric breakdown resistance and excellent thermal conductivity. ThermaVolt papers are compatible with most commonly used impregnating varnishes and resins, and are easily impregnated, further enhancing thermal conductivity and coil bonding characteristics. 3M™ Innovative Paper Technologies UL Recognized Insulation Systems (File No. 65007) may be found on UL’s Electrical Insulation Systems database at http.//database.ul.com/systems/.
